Nanna napping and freedom
While nanna napping on my bed, the scent of newly made herb bags... orange and cloves... warm my dream. I teach myself how to play a song on a new purple ukelele and feel that all is right in my world while I have the time to follow a such a folly and the freedom, if not yet the talent, to play any song I like.
Today, the sun rose on a brand new year!
Today, I have spread wet linen on lavender bushed, I have swept rose petals from a garden walk. I have labelled jars of raspberry jam, I have baked sunshine cake; I have embroidered a yellow duck on a small blue frock. I have polished andirons, dusted a highboy, cut sweet peas for a black bowl, wound the tall clock, pleated a lace ruffle... Today I have lived a poem. Ethel Romig Fuller
I found this poem, where and when is of little consequence, (though I may tell the story someday) and its message stuck with me. With a sense of wonder about the world and its inhabitants, I can find beauty and mystery and poetry in almost anything and everything.
My day went like this;
At midnight I sipped a glass of sparkling wine and stayed awake 'til the sun rose on a new year. I snoozed in the morning sun and felt hot and bothered under an unnecessary bed cover, I dined on plum pudding and ice-cream leftover from Christmas festivities. I have de-fluffed the cat, vacuumed the living room and washed dishes in the middle of the afternoon. I listened to the wind whir by my window on an otherwise beautiful day. Today, I embarked on a brand new blog.
